Introduction

Countless nations and various political bodies are making efforts to make their policies for immigration in the current century. The issue has become the cause of international debate as it affects the economic, the social strata and the legal regulations of the states. Many are of the opinion that a proper system has to be identified for understanding the mechanism behind migration. This can help in coming up with solutions that can achieve good for the people and bring stability in the long run. The process is complex as this must be identified why people migrate and the impact of migration on people and their countries. Immigration control systems often take into account the various aspects associated with the arrival of the immigrants into a new country. As these immigrants may belong to different race and culture, they are likely to be taken as a threat by the citizens. These immigrants come up with entirely different views and live a conflicting life unless they are able to settle properly. The following paper raises and answers many questions and gives a thoughtful discussion about immigration control and how it is affected by political, legal and ethical opinions. The paper also addresses racial discrimination that has undergone many changes over a few decades and how racialism has remained an important concern for the Blacks, Asians and the ethnic minorities in Britain. The end of the paper looks over the negative experiences of Matiullah as he moved from Afghanistan to United Kingdom after the war.

Activity 1: Social construction theory challenging the perception that race is biological

Recent research indicates that human races are not at all associated with biological concepts. Theories exist describing the presence of genetic groups inside racial groups. This can be argued that social constructionist theories lack the biological context to their meanings (Parker, 2007). On the other hand, race can be associated to social construct and examined in a number of ways. It is proven through biological research that racial distinctions exist in real (Parker, 2007). Regardless of various evidences, race in its truest form becomes the concept in social construct as it becomes the part of world conflict and discourse.

The recent view of races today is related to social construct where social constructionists are of the belief that racial discrimination is based on differences in skin color and other characteristics. It is a simple concept in biology defining the unequal treatment that people receive because of racial differences (Shaio et al., 2012). The concept prevailed in the 1970s and is widely recognized for defining the populations that are genetically or morphologically distinct from others. It has been observed that humans are surrounded by vast variability in the genetic sense (Parker, 2007).
