Introduction

This paper discusses what different Prophets spoke about issues such as social injustice, idolatry and religious ritualism. These issues would be discussed in light of biblical context. Along with, discussing the application of these preaching's in modern day context and their relevance to mankind in today's world. These are discussed in the following segment of the paper.

Preaching of the Prophets

In theological history and research it is a known fact that Prophets chosen by God had been sent as a beacon of the divine message and guidance for the mercy of those people. All of the Prophets were God's Messengers to guide their people away from drudgery and ignorance and to believe in one true divine spirit. Although, the ancient societies valued wealth and power gained through any means, the principles of piety and ethics were largely missing. These were strongly abhorred by the Prophets as for them the value of kindness, equal justice and concerns were above any material infatuation prevalent in societies that they were a part of.

Conversely, the Old Testament serves as a great example where the teachings and practices of different Prophets are discussed. It is also worthy to mention that the Prophets played the role of teachers for their people. Likewise, social injustice, religious ritualism and idolatry are the three areas that were strongly stressed upon by these Prophets. It was their dedication and devotion through their teachings to eliminate these disliked practices amongst the Jews remains relevant till today. One of such Prophet is Amos. He was very vocal about the social injustices prevalent in the society and preached about the Day of Judgment to the Israelites who mercilessly practices oppression against their people.
