Introduction

Criminology is concerned about the analysis of the humans who commit crimes and methods in order to prevent humans from committing crime. Criminology is a composition of social science and psychology. The objective of a criminologist is to look for reasons of crimes with in the criminal and find out if it was an abnormal act or an act of repression.

A criminologist even investigates as to how people get in the field of crime because of race, ethnicity, education and socioeconomic status, and will even look into the history of the law methods.

The growing concern of the law enforcement agencies today is the concern of cyber crimes, and out of those cyber crimes one field is the I.D theft which is also known as the identity theft. Identity theft is when a criminal cracks some personal information of a person like the driving license number, social security number, bank account information etc and then misuses it. This information is used to get credit cards, goods, services etc on the name of the victim.

The identity theft is divided into two broad categories which are

Accounts take over

True name theft

What happens in the account take over category is when a criminal gets hold of the personal information of the victim and uses it to access the bank account of the victim and then misuse it. What an identity thief would do is that he would use your stolen identity to change your address and use your credit cards or do anything on the name of the victim without the victim having any clue about it.

An identity theft in the true meaning means when a criminal uses the personal information of the victim and does whatever what he wants to on the name of the victim. The culprit might open up a fake bank account and acquire credit cards so that he can get the cash delivered whenever he wants to. Internet today has provided ease to customers and the entire world, but along with ease it has even brought in a few problems for the world. Because of the internet the fake identity is often considered to be real as the person is not physically standing in front of the bank or any other person he is dealing with.

A time what the thief do is that they get in to the data bases of organizations in order to steal information. This type of scam is much more common these days as compared to the traditional ways when the culprits physically had to enter organizations in order to steal information. Therefore, one should be aware when he gives out his personal information to anyone and personal information to non authentic resources should not be given at all.
