ICU Nurses' Oral-Care Practices and the Current Best Evidence

Introduction

Bruan-Wimmer & Ruiz-Skol (2012) conducted a research which analyzed the oral care delivery practices of the nursing staff, in healthcare settings in the country. The research showed that the concerned care delivery practices by the nursing staff were either non-existent or inadequate (Shaw, 1998; Cherry-Peppers G & Schumaker, 1993). These findings also demonstrated the urgent need to draft appropriate training and development programs for nurses that can improve on the oral care delivery strategies in differing healthcare settings (Bruan-Wimmer, A.J. & Ruiz-Skol, 2012).
