Film Background

This beautiful film is about a man with mental retardation and autistic disorder, their IQ is only that of a child of seven years, and as his daughter turns seven, she starts to mentally outgrow her father. Shortly, their life appears in the search of a social worker, who, “for the good of the child,” and sam wants Lucy located into foster care. (Koehler, 2001).

Sam becomes a loving and devoted father to his daughter, despite her mental problem who educates with help from her friends and her neighbor, Lucy grows and difficulties arise when the child turns seven years because the court decides to take the girl, arguing he does not have the skills to continue to care for her.
