Hypothesis Testing and Variance

Abstract

The research study explores that there is no differences in the mean values of intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction by gender and position respectively. The study also reflects the differences between t and z test and their uses and it is recommended that z test is preferably use when the standard deviation is known. In statistics the “population” represents the target observation on which study is to be made. Sample refers to the part of the population on which study is made, it represents the whole population.

Hypothesis Testing and Variance

Introduction

The study is made to explore the hypothesis testing methods on two different groups of variables. One is extrinsic job satisfaction by position while the other is intrinsic job satisfaction by gender. The study also explores the differences between the sample and population. In addition to this the paper also highlights the differences in use of t and z test.

Decision

The above Table 1 shows that the mean values of intrinsic satisfaction are same for male and females. Therefore we reject H0 .

Explanation

The “t” statistics of two tiled test appears insignificant which concludes that there are no significant differences between the means values of intrinsic values by gender.

Applications for Managers

Intrinsic satisfaction represents the satisfaction of individuals by their overall performance. The test is made to test the differences between the intrinsic satisfactions by gender. According to ...
