Hypnosis is a mental state or a group of attitudes generated through a procedure called a hypnotic induction. Usually consists of a series of preliminary instructions and suggestions. These suggestions can be generated by a hypnotist or may be self-administered (autosuggestion). The use of hypnosis for therapeutic use is known as hypnotherapy (Gabel, 1988).
