Introduction

Human trafficking is referred as the human trade. It is often observed that the purpose of human trafficking involves forced labor, sexual slavery or the extraction of tissues or organs like ova removal and surrogacy. Human trafficking is considered as one of the serious crimes and a crucial abuse of human rights. Surveys and researches show that every year, large number of women, men and children are caught by traffickers, in their own states and abroad. Almost all the countries are badly affected by human trafficking (Quirk, 2011).

Human trafficking is the transportation, recruitment, transfer, receipt or harbouring of person, by forcing or threatening a person. It is usually done in the form of fraud, abduction, deception and misuse of power and authority. Human trafficking is usually done for the intention of exploitation or mistreatment. Exploitation may include different types of sexual exploitation, forced services or labour, slavery or elimination of human organs. Human trafficking is considered as the greatest way of abusing human rights in United States (Mahdavi, 2011). Discussion

Human trafficking is referred as the slavery of modern times, which forces a large number of children, men and women into sexual servitude or forced labour. The industry of human trafficking is considered as the 3rd largest industry of the world. Human trafficking is badly affecting all the countries. Researches and surveys show that the main reason of human trafficking involves the purpose of forced labour. Large number of children, men and women are trafficked and forced to do labour at minimum wages. The movement of children, men and women, for the reason of forced labour, is done through a recruiter or an agent. A transporter is responsible to carry those victims from one place to another. The transporter brings those victims to the final employer, who drives profit from the utilization of the trafficked individual (United States, Government Accountability Office, n.d.).

The journey of the trafficked victims towards their destination is considered as most hazardous and risky situation. They are transferred from one place to another in small containers, in which they faces several problems including hunger, suffocation etc. After reaching their destinations, they face several severe problems including low paying, health care issues and proper housing issues (Mahdavi, 2011).

Causes and factors of Human Trafficking

The causes of human trafficking are complex and numerous. Relating to the traffickers, trafficking of humans helps to bring quick and high profits with few introducing costs. It is often observed that the threat of prosecution is minute in most of the countries. Penalty for the human trafficking crime is lower, as compared to the drugs trafficking. Related to the victims, the root causes of trafficking includes gender bias, poverty, domestic violence, family breakdown, armed displacement, conflict, several discriminatory strategies in receiving countries, enhanced use of technology and tools and demographic factors (Hart, 2009).
