Introduction

Human trafficking is an alternate term for modern-day slavery. An enormous number of people are held captive by traffickers. They are forced to work for various purposes and in various fields for the traffickers. They are subjected to verbal and physical abuse by their masters and customers. At time, traffickers even sell the victims of human trafficking into slavery. They false promise people regarding job, education, money, and better living to trick them into slavery. There many forms of slavery ranging from domestic servitude to forced child labour. As a consequence of human trafficking, victims suffer from a substantial impact on their physical and mental health. Governments are required to take appropriate action in order to combat human trafficking and eradicate this criminal activity from its roots.

Background

Human Trafficking has been existing since ancient times. In those times, majority of the slaves were captives of war and their successors. Free people got enslaved due to financial collapse or failing to fulfil some sort of promise (Farrell, 2011, p. 6). In order to survive from financial collapse, people used to sell themselves or their families into slavery. However, these days human trafficking has developed into a business. People have established organizations to traffick people across borders in order to either sell them into slavery, get their organs transplanted, get them involved into illegal acts and so forth. Traffickers take advantage of poor people and false promise them regarding money, job, and a better living. The victims get tricked by the traffickers. As a consequence of human trafficking, these people suffer from psychological, mental, and emotional disorder. Upon arrival to their native country, they are looked down upon, socially isolated, and deprived of the fundamental necessities of life. The criminal activity of human trafficking causes problems of extreme severity for its victims.

Rationale

In today's world, human Trafficking is becoming a growing crime across the globe. Traffickers earn enormous amounts of money by making wrong use of victims of trafficking. There are many countries that are playing roles of source, transit, and destination countries for human trafficking. Several children and women are forced into trafficking via violence, threats, and false promises of a better life. The nature of this type of a well-managed crime, the concerns and voices of victims will continue to be unheard until the higher authorities take appropriate steps to fight the issue of human trafficking. Besides that, health care and social service providers will be required to help the victims of human trafficking to get them re-entered in the health environment.
