Human Rights Guidance from the NHS Cornwall

Human rights are said to be the fundamental rights that every individual inherently is entitled to regardless of the caste, creed, religion, gender or profession. Human rights play a crucial role; be it at a personal or a professional level. At a professional level human rights play an important role at workplace. It is the right of every individual to have the opportunity to increase their personal potential. Intangibly every individual has the innate curiosity according to Maslow's hierarchy consisting of five set of needs which has to be fulfilled in order to be self-actualized and eventually leading to the efficiency and effectiveness of an employee regardless of what walk of life one is from. The NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly is dedicated to promote equal opportunities in access to services, health outcomes and in employment for every individual of the diversified community it is serving. They have an aim for ensuring that this is at the centre of their work, and is essential to all of their policies and functions (cornwallandislesofscilly.nhs.uk).

The 1998 Human rights Act (HRS) came to full force on 2nd October 2000. The act brought with itself the European Convention on Human Rights into the law of the UK. The suthorities of UK have a responsibility to protect and promote the human rights of the community. According to the act, human rights play an important role in maintaining the decorum of any organization. The act is based on the principles of Fairness, Respect, Autonomy, Equality as well as Dignity. It also entails basic human rights made on the basis of the 5 factors which are: The right to live with liberty, Security, under non-discrimination, slavery and forced labor (Wallace, 2011, pp. 45). The right to undergo fair trials and no punishment should be imposed without the premise of the law. The human rights act of NHS corwall covers the following basic rights among many others:

The right to be respected for privacy and family life.

Freedom of expression, thoughts and practice religion.

Right of attaining education and marrying.

The right of the protection of property, free elections and freedom of association as well as assembly.

Right to life, liberty and security
