Abstract

Human resource is one of the key functions of any organization. It is very important for any company to design the various components of HR system such that they support and align with each other in an effective manner. It has been seen that various organizations lack efficiency due to misalignment of the HR systems. It therefore becomes crucial for the organizations to work on effective alignment of HR systems. The well aligned HR systems provide advantages to both the employees as well as the management. In order to compete with the global market and retain experienced employees, there is an immense need for the companies to include the advanced features of globalization, diversity, and information technology with the HR function. This paper describes the alignment strategies of HR systems, used by a major machinery provider company, in order to achieve business benefits along with strategic goals and objectives.

Discussion

Over the past few years, it has become essential for the companies to align their business and internal operations effectively. In absence of the alignment in strategies and operations, the companies fail to maintain their position in the competitive business world. In the modern business environment, it has become essential for the HR manager to conceptualize their HR approaches as business outcomes of their company, as these managers have to constantly face the HR issues and problems (Ivancebich and Konopaske, 2012). The HR managers should understand the fact that the HR approaches and systems play a vital part in the company's success, as the HR practices and decisions reflect in the improvement of company's strategies or staff competencies.

In the modern business world, the human resource systems serve two major functions for the company, they assist the organization towards achieving the objectives in strategic direction and advocate and represent the employees. Thus, it is important to view the various HR systems in conjunction which other, in order to determine the alignment, and the efficiency with which different systems support each other's operations.

The Company

The company, which we consider for this research project, is one of the largest international suppliers of Machinery for Textile Industries. Due to the increased global competition, the organization makes it a point to have effective human resource systems, which would help the company to provide employees with great working experience at the company. In addition, the alignment of various human resource systems adds to the efficiency of entire HRM function of the company.

The company has devised the human resource strategies, in order to meet the modern business requirements. The Human Resource (HR) department of company is equipped with a team of well trained, highly motivated and efficient managers, who combine their talent and effort to work with the employees in collaboration so they excel. The major function served by the HR department include selecting and recruiting employees into an efficient team, training them, handling projects from planning to execution, solving problems and making strategic decisions.
