Introduction

Human Resource Management (HRM) is the function that focuses on hiring quality workforce for the organization. HRM is an organizational function that focuses on recruitment, management, and providing direction for the people who work in the organization. HRM is considered to be backbone for any organization and can be done by line managers (Heathfield, 2011). HRM is the holistic organizational function that takes into account the compensation, hiring, performance management, organization development, communication, administration and training.

Training and Development

Training and development of employees is the must do a thing for any organization. Training is the process of polishing skills, capabilities and knowledge of employees for making it sure that employees can perform each task effectively and efficiently (Chapman, 2010). Training of the employees leads to quality performance of employees. Training is an ongoing process which an organization has to carry out over the years.

Training is very important for the employees of any organization. A well trained employee will become productive for the company as time passes. First of all, training is given to new employees to familiarize them with rules and regulations of the organization. Also, new joiners were trained to ensure that they understand the mission and vision of the organization, and perform accordingly. For existing employees, training is always helpful to refresh and enhance their knowledge. Training is also given to employees when certain updating or amendments take place in technology. For example, a new technique of production, changes in use of equipment, new software etc, and training is necessary to cope up with these changes. When promotions were given to employees, it is important to give them training so that they understand their job responsibilities.

Benefits of Training and Development

Trainings always give employees job security and job satisfaction. It increases their morale as they become more satisfied with their jobs. Employees become more productive if they are kept up to date through different trainings. Moreover, if the employee is well trained, they need less supervision as they know their job, thus there will less wastage of time and efforts. If the employees are not well trained and they do not know their job, chances of accidents increases, conversely if employees were trained they perform a task much efficiently with minimal chances of an accident (Smith, 2011). After acquiring skills and knowledge from training, employees become eligible for promotions. They eventually become assets for the organization. Training after satisfying the employees made them efficient and productive. Well trained employees show both quality and quantity performance. They will understand what to do, and when to do if they were properly trained.

Qualities of a HR Professional

It is not enough to only possess subject matter expertise to work in any profession, but other qualities like personality, attitude, decorum, behavior, ethical approach, and thinking to work efficiently to sustain in any given profession.
