Scenario

Crothwall is an IT based company which was founded in 1997. At present company worth more than five million dollars. The company believes in performance based appraisals and employee benefit programs. That is the reason employees are highly motivated and delivering outstanding performance. Crothwall and Associates conducts performance appraisals twice a year. At the end, of every month employees are called for meeting based on their performance and their targets. Their respective managers discuss with them, the issues and problems relating to work, and the ways through which they can enhance their performance.

Nancy Douglas is an assistant accountant for the hardware division of Crothwall and Associates. She has gotten two times “B” in performance appraisals and after that she got “C”. Now she has a last chance for improving her performance. I, being an HR manager have to inform Nancy about her performance and last chance. After the third evaluation for performance appraisal, I have called Nancy for performance meeting.

Me: Hello, Nancy! How are you doing?

Me: Good to see you Nancy…Please have a seat.

Nancy: I am fine, how about you?

Me: I am pretty good thank you.

Me: Let me start by saying I'm pleased with most of your work since the final review. However, there are some areas that required to be addressed. You have been doing a remarkable job since you are here with us, I must say.

Nancy: I have a clue about which areas you are talking about.

Me: Without a doubt, I know…You are pretty much familiar with our company policy about performance appraisals and bi-annually evaluation system.

Nancy: Yes! I know, and I appreciate this system.

Me: Were you aware of your evaluation results?

Nancy: I know about two of the results.

Me: What are your expectations from the third evaluation?
