The main factors that influence the job satisfaction and commitment of Malaysian employees of ABC MSC.

Introduction

Employee's satisfaction is the top priority for the many employers, as they want to retain them. Moreover, they design flexible work models in order to facilitate the employees and give them relaxation. Similarly, these practices have been also, seen in Malaysia which is now progressing towards being a financial hub. Being an Islamic state, it is a multi ethnic country and caters to a diverse group of people. The working environment has been changed over the decades, as expatriates and people belong to diverse back grounds have joined in further incorporating their work ethics, and practices into the existing corporate culture (Serapio, p.220).

Discussion

Japan remains an important source of Foreign Direct Investment in Malaysia. The two countries have had bilateral relations since 2005 in which Japan was one of the most important trading partner of Malaysia and remained as the significant source for the things imported to Malaysia. However, the employee's perception working in Japanese in Companies, in Malaysia, has changed over time as they have been affected by the different direction and operations of the overseas subsidiaries in their home country. Malaysia happens to be a multiethnic country which comprises of Malays and a diverse group of people which include Chinese, Indians and Others (8%) of the population. The company ABC MSC (Multimedia Super Corridor), which works in, collaboration with ICT (Information and Computer Technology) was a joint venture also it had a parent company in Japan.

ICT (Information and Computer Technology) in Malaysia

The Malaysian Government has recognized and supported the ICT (Information and Computer Technology) industry. The initiative of MSC (Multimedia Super Corridor) started in 1996 having an aim of cultivating knowledge-rich society in Malaysia and taking the country into the information age. The MSC (Multimedia Super Corridor) covered a vast land area, which stretched from the PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur in the north to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in the south; and encompasses two additional cities: Cyber jaya, the technology core and Putrajaya, the new administrative capital of Malaysia. Also, the two cities were linked with the powerful, rapid rail links and a newly constructed highway system. A new 10 gigabyte digital fiber-optic backbone was laid to support the telecommunication in the MSC (Multimedia Super Corridor). Moreover, the innovative cyber laws, policies and practices which govern the MSC allow investors to harness the full potential of ICT (Information and Computer Technology) and multimedia.

The Back ground of ABC MSC

ABC MSC (Multimedia Super Corridor) is a company which was incorporated by a Japanese subsidiary of ABC Corporation in the mid of 1997. Thus, having acquired, changed its location from Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur to the newly constructed “intelligent” city of Cyber Jaya.
