There are many reasons due to which Human Resource Management is critical towards the success of an organisation and for meeting its goals and objectives. Human Resource Management is prepared to assist companies in meeting the needs of their employees and to accomplish the goals of the company. The discipline of Human resource management is concerned with all the issues of a business that influence matters regarding employees, hiring and firing, remuneration, compensation and benefits, training, and administration. The role of Human Resource Department of any company is to offer work incentives, information regarding safety procedures and sick or vacation leaves. The basic concept of Human Resource management is the proper management of people. It necessitates planning ahead for the betterment of the company and also tries to congregate the requirements of employees in the best possible way (Doz, 1986, pp.68))

Performance Management Systems

A system that enables us to evaluate our performances against the set standards, benchmarks or goals are known as performance management system. It consists of activities that help in an individual or an organisation in ensuring that the goals are on being achieved constantly in an effective manner. The overall performance of an organisation can be properly evaluated through the usage of performance management systems. At different organisational levels like departmental, divisional or employee different systems are designed to evaluate the performance. Performance management systems are also designed on the product and service level as well to maintain its quality and standard. To win in today's competitive environment an organisation needs to be more towards following best suitable performance management system (Cascio, 2007, pp.190).

An organisation can not exist if it does not have any performance management system or process. Performance management systems help an organisation in maintaining the best quality of human resources, as the employees are constantly evaluated through performance appraisals. This helps in retaining the talented employees in the organisation the ones who were non serious are terminated or expelled due to their non serious attitude towards the designated job. Performance management systems mainly help in aligning the individual performances to the overall organisation's vision and its strategic objectives. It also provides an individual the clear picture on how he/she can earn bonuses or rewards by maintaining the performance level. It also provides assistance to an organisation on compensation matters.

The performance management system that I have established is based on an organisational level.

Goal setting and aligning objectives

The first and the most important step for designing an organisational performance system are the setting of goals and alignment of organisational objectives. The goals are both short term and long term. The objectives are directly linked to the mission of an organisation. All these things have to be designed according to the organisational mission and vision otherwise it will be a big failure.
