Introduction

The Human Resource bears the responsibility of providing the right person for the right post in an organization. Apart from this, the HR is also responsible for the training and development of the staff members. It was seen as the enforcers of the management team. For many the role of HR was hiring and firing. Those who had a little more idea viewed the role of the Human Resource as challenging, yet rewarding, (Armstrong, 2008). The HR actively involves itself with the employees in the organization, and looks into the areas where there is a need for making further improvements in the human resource.

The responsibility of the employees that were inducted in the organization was placed entirely on the shoulders of the HR staff. Thus, it designed various programs for identifying the needs of the employees and offering valuable options for solving any issues and conflicts that take place among the management and the employees, (Clutterbuck, 2003). Now, times have changed. Gone are the days when HR was seen as a department for hiring and firing. Due to the development of various modern management theories and ways of doing business, the HR practices have made the employees go to any length possible in making sure that the businesses do well with their employees, and use them in a manner that is productive and beneficial for both, the employees and the organization.

HR is not seen as a business activity that is just administrative. However, it is now considered as a very complex, consultative and interpersonal task that strongly requires a very wide array of skills, from communication and counseling to strategy and business planning. The HR manager of today's modern business environment is at the very center of the organizations' web of departments and employees.

Discussion

The HR now has an influence which is directly concerned with the success of the organization. HR in this modern business world needs to adapt to the changes that are present in the business environment. Since the environment that surrounds the business is dynamic in nature, the HR needs to be fully aware of the needs of the modern business world. HR needs to have a team that is highly skilled in planning and managing the organization. HR must be treated as an integrated strategic position that promises success of the business because the HR works closely with the Human Capital, (Henry, 2008).

This is the true central value offering and competitive advantage of the HR. Through proper management of the present outgoing and incoming employees, the HR makes sure that the organization has the right amount of people for the right job. HR must not be seen as the last resort for the employees, as far as the negative encounters are concerned, (Podmoroff, 2005).
