The recruitment requirements of any company depend upon the nature of the job. A job in the management side of the company would require the candidates, who have education in the field of business management. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, the human needs are arranged in a hierarchy. Maslow had identified five sets of needs, which he had termed as the basic needs. Among these basic needs, he has included; the physiological needs, the need for security, the need for love, the need to satisfy self-esteem and, finally, the need for self-actualization. (Murray 1938, pp. 87)
Theory of Motivation - Hygiene
Psychologist Frederick Herzberg developed this theory, which had the view that the level of performance of a person is dependent on the level of satisfaction, i.e., the level and the quality of output from a person would differ according to his satisfaction level with the work. (Hackman & Oldham 1980, pp. 36) When we compare this theory with the Maslow's theory, we can see as a similarity that motivation is based on the external environment and the nature of work of the person, and the needs of the human being. Herzberg termed these motivational factors as hygiene, intrinsic, and extrinsic factors. (Gagne and Deci 2005, pp. 331)
Vroom and Expectancy theory
The theory formulated by Victor Vroom in the 1960's, this theory states that the motivation of a person to do a task is determined by the amount of value that he places on the outcome of his efforts multiplied by the certainty that his efforts will help him fulfill the goal. Since people make decisions based on what they expect as a reward for their efforts. (Vroom 2003, pp. 968)
It means that people will feel motivated to do certain things for the fulfillment of a goal if they are convinced about the value of their efforts, and if they perceive that their actions would contribute effectively to achieving them. (Vroom 2000, pp. 82)
Relevance of Maslow's theory
According to Maslow's theory of human needs, there are five basic needs of a human being; these needs are physiological needs, the need for security, the need for love, the need to satisfy self-esteem and, finally, the need for self-actualization. (Miner 2003, pp. 250) When we analyze the basic needs of our workforce, we can see that the basic needs of an employee consist of the same needs that have been described by Maslow. (McClelland & Winter 1969, pp. 14) A worker wants to be satisfied and content with his job, and then he would be able to obtain peace of mind. When we would be satisfied with his job, then he will feel that he needs to develop a secure future for himself and his family. At this time, he would need the love and the support of his family to achieve this task, and this ...
