“Fizzzzzzzzzzzz”, “Splashhhhhh!!” , “Truckle”…………………… wow………what a sound…... When you enter in your home after facing scorching beam of sun in mid of the day………. And your mum come to you with a chilled glass of soft drink…….. wohooooooo!! You scream….. but a sudden idea hits your mind that this cold drink contains soda…. And today your class mate told that soda cause obesity…. Ohh… you get depressed, but then after a little fight of your heart with brain, heart order you that drink it at the moment, we will find facts after wards… (

This is what usually happens. Now the question arises that how soda affects obesity?

Obesity is defined as when weight of someone is more than his IBW (Ideal Body Weight). This is getting very serious issue worldwide and it is expected that in United States of America, average expectancy will soon start to fall sharply in two hundred years for the first time, due to an epidemic of obesity. This trend has happened over a very short time period; In USA, it seems to have started in the last of twentieth century. The speed with which the epidemic of obesity has emerged rules out simple explanations regarding genetics. The recent environment of United States of America has been demonstrated as “obesogenic”, it means that it motivates the trend of high energy intakes and low energy consumption-this imbalance of energy leads to the condition of weight gain.

Obesity can also be termed as the excess or abnormal accumulation of body fats to a degree that can badly impair the health of an individual. It is unfeasible to measure the amount of adipose tissues in the body and requires invasive laboratory measures. For combating this situation, certain standards have been set after keen observation and extensive research. The value of 25 is considered as the overweight, whereas 30 is considered as the value that represents obesity. Obesity is further classified according to the severity. The value between 25 till 29 represents overweight; Class I obesity is represented by the value ranging from 30 to 34; Class II obesity is represented as 35 t0 39 and Class III obesity is represented by 40 and above. In growing children, height and weight both gets altered, at different rates, the definition of obesity in such individuals becomes more complicated. There are many causes of obesity but the main causes can be assembled into three major categories: lack of exercise, poor choice of food, and lack of awareness.

Discussion

There are many factors that contribute to obesity, but the use of soda is becoming mostly discussed issue, whether it causes obesity or not. The modern societies give relatively inexpensive, abundant food; and the people residing in them reduce the energy consumption by doing work at work places and as well as at home, via urbanization and technology. Apart from it many individuals have the inbuilt capacity to gain weight (genetically), despite of the fact how less they eat ...
