Introduction

In recent years, the study of media policy, or how the media was regulated and controlled, was a key component of media studies (Fourie, 2008). Most of the media studies is related to the general acceptance and acknowledgements by governments, industries, laws and the public sector. Media studies have also focused on the society's politics, economics, social systems, collective psyche and the state of democracy and so on (Fourie, 2008).

The media industry has emerged during the last few years rapidly and has been widely accepted by the people. Thus, the research for the following paper lies on the line of the statement that 'How media portrays communication?' Therefore let's analyze the reasons and the ways for its operations that have got popularity and acceptance by the crowds in the international cities and the forums.

Media is the most active industry nowadays that is working to convey the information to the populations. Though, media plays its role within limitations in every country because communication freedom requires communication policy. In other words, “communication freedom can never be an unqualified freedom” (Fourie, 2008, p.3). There must be some kind of formal organization and control over the industry.

There are different types of media that are existed. Majorly the media is categorized in two mediums. There is the print media and the electronic media. Besides these two major categories, the social media has also emerged due to the technology and the advancements.

Types of Media

There are different types of media, and each has its own history and the development overtime. When people refer to the media they usually mean television, radio and print journalism (Cardwell, 2000). However, nowadays, with rapid growth of technology, social media such as, Facebook and Twitter become the most important source of news. Therefore, this comparative research will focus on those four kinds of media and their different levels of impacts on the society.
