When people talk about the problem of piracy, it often refers to the damage of the economy. No doubt, the numbers related to this issue and the economy are impressive. It's true that media piracy is a challenge to the power of the industry. For example, the increasing trend of online music piracy is affecting the whole music community. It has huge adverse effects on everyone associated with the global music industry including musicians, songwriters, performers, music companies and distributors who are passionate about their profession and love music (McChesney, 2001, pp. 23-40).

Pirates are anyone who infringes intellectual property rights, criminal organizations, entrepreneurs and individuals (members of the public). Economists' estimate that the spread of counterfeit media content on the internet brings brought 2.4 billion dollars damages to the music industry each year. The representatives of the film industry are now also deploying a similar campaign. They estimate their losses from software piracy around 4.5 billion a year (Danaher, 2010, pp. 2-12).

The global piracy of digital media is rooted in a problem of prices. There is a strong need that media piracy must be fought positively. The "piracy" of media content is one of the most controversial issues generated in the network between industry and users. Until the definition is questionable: illegal downloads, free access, exchange, nonmarket activities, etc. There is no doubt that the word piracy was introduced by the creative industries (film, music and books) to refer to users accessing content protected by copyright by downloading them from the internet (Mason, 2008, pp. 10-15). Online sharing of music and other media not only causes a huge loss to musicians and media production companies, but also, it causes them to lose motivation to continue producing creative work. Online distributing of music is damaging production companies and the music industry in general. Finally, and most importantly, music piracy is costing the economy billions of Dollars every year.

There is no doubt that online music piracy discourages artists and musicians to use their creative abilities and skills for the betterment as they do not get any reward due to theft of their music through illegal sharing. The discouraging factor influences their motivations and musicians, artists, songwriters, in fact everyone who serves in music industry feel less enthusiasm to render more creative music (Thussu, 2006, pp. 223-227).
