ABSTRACT

Objective:- The purpose of this literature review is to explore how does adult domestic violence affect children mental health of age under 10 years.

Design:- A literature search was done on major data bases and through journal and research publications relating to adult domestic violence affect children mental health. There were 4 articles chosen which were critically analysed using the Critical Analysis Framework.

Results:- The extent to which a child is physically and psychologically abused varies when it comes to how it affects them traumatically, and the psychological damages experienced from domestic violence can leave scars on an individual for years to come.

Conclusion: - More research needs to be conducted in this regard which should provide programs for the prevention of domestic violence and creating awareness among people.

1.1 INTRODUCTION

This study provides the framework about impact of domestic violence on children mental health. Nurses have a huge responsibility and they are considered as to play a central role in the ethic of caring for caring and providing health promotion and early intervention in their work to improve the health status of patients. Nurses have always been played an important role when the issue of domestic violence is concerned. They play an important role in assisting women and children who have been a victim of domestic violence. The findings of the articles Introduction e study will provide the main role of nursing when domestic violence patients are concerned. Evidence shows that domestic violence has a huge impact on women and children work and health. The victims of domestic violence continuously seek assistance from health care workers, nurses related to their concerns about domestic violence. Since domestic violence remains a frequent aspect of women intimate relationship and children suffer from health complications therefore nurses have a significant role to play in early intervention and prevention of domestic violence.

Children are the worst affected in domestic violence. Infants, toddlers, young children, and older children are placed in an unpleasant position of watching their parents or parental figure fight and argue. Researchers have used different terms to refer to children who are involved in domestic violence such as "witnesses" or "observers," and over the years it has been replaced with "exposure." This was done because it is more inclusive and does not make assumptions about what children experienced. Exposure is more fitting and does not leave any room for errors or assumptions.
