ABSTRACT
This study consists about investigating and analyzing the boom and slump of the UAE construction sector in detail. Along with, understanding the relationship and the role that project management practices and processes play in the risk minimization on the revival of the redundant construction projects after the global economic crisis had too impacted the prospering and rapidly expanding economy of the United Arab Emirates, which also happens to be the centric point of architectural and constructional engineering evolution, with landmark mega projects with unique designs and built with massive budgets and investment. This study is composed of five chapters that included chapter 1 which includes the introduction to this study, which sets the scene for the reader to understand the flow of this dissertation and includes the background, rationale, research aims and objectives. Similarly, chapter 2 includes a discussion on the pertinent literature in detail and which also helps in the better understanding about project management. The chapter 3 of this study comprises of the research methodology adopted is discusses along with, the research design, ethical considerations, and the study's limitations. The chosen research methodology included using a mixed research method design composing of both qualitative and quantitative data analysis. For the qualitative data the existing literature was extensively reviewed and assessed, while the quantitative data included a questionnaire survey from the sample size of ten respondents. All of the respondents were project managers working in different UAE construction and real estate development sector, whose head offices was located in Dubai. This sample size for the survey was chosen on the basis of convenience by the researcher.
Similarly, chapter 4 discusses and analyzes some of the important case studies related to the topic as well as the questionnaire survey. The findings of which highlighted that indeed UAE's construction sector is on the road to recovery and soon in the coming years it can attain its lost glory of rapid growth and expansion before the global financial crisis hit the country. Lastly, the chapter 5 of this study included the summary of the main findings and themes highlighted along with presenting of proposed recommendations for future research.
