CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
This paper will focus on hospitality business in Qatar. The researcher will focus on to determine the hotel and resorts in Qatar; emphasizing on the current scenario and analyzing all possible aspects of hotels and resort in Qatar. Hotels industry dates back to antiquity, where the need to exchange goods between different civilizations, traders to travel from one country to another for the exchange, at first this service were free at this time to the accommodation of merchants were the kings built shelters on the roads, to encourage trade and to protect merchants from the thieves. Ford and Peeper (2008, p.89) states that “There were different types of hotels and resorts, some of poor quality and reputation for the poorest people, some of excellent quality but affordable only to wealthy people”.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the study is to analyze the standing of hospitality industry in Qatar with respect to the operations management, profitability and the potential that it holds in Hotels and Resort industry in Industry. The research will also analyze the perception of consumers and challenges face by hotel and resorts in Qatar.
Problem Statement
The hospitality industry has been changing dramatically and rapidly, and there is an intense competition in the hospitality industry. This intense competition in the hospital industry today makes it more different from the industry in the past. Environmentally sustainable development is the main responsibility of all the different sectors of the industry in Qatar, and the stakeholder and there are outstanding prospects for consultation and sharing ideas among them. This is especially important in the case of major global sporting and similar events, which could benefit greatly from social dialogue in a way that would support stable and decent work in hotel; catering and tourism facilities developed for such mega events (Kuokkanen, 2003).
Rationale of the Study
The scale of the tourism, hospitality and leisure industry is enormous. It has become the world's largest employer and, despite the global financial crisis, it is predicted that the decline in international tourism arrivals may have bottomed out. It encompasses virtually every country and culture and has its foundations. Today, the hotel industry has multiple facets. In this discussion we will focus mainly upon hotels and resorts in Qatar, it is acknowledged that the industry as a whole is primarily made up of small and micro businesses.
