Introduction

Hospice, as the modern definition suggests are nursing homes for those patients who have incurred illnesses which have dragged them to almost death or patients with illnesses which are lifelong. The nature of the illness can be variable as the illness can be a physical one or an emotional one or a psychological one. The primary objective of hospices is to bring motivation, self respect and dignity back in the patients being treated for these illnesses in the ending years of their lives. The prime focus of hospices is to care for the emotional needs of the patient and bring control to the pain which they incur because of their illnesses. Hospices believe that the ending stage of life is not an experience to be accumulated with medical experience instead it is something which needs to be dealt as a life experience.
