Homeless Veterans

Abstract

Homelessness among the war veterans is serious dilemma, which is present in the current American society at a substantial level. This paper will critically analyze the factors which lead the war veterans to experience various adversities in their lives, and become homeless. The role of the government institutes would also be analyzed in this regard. The veterans are dependent on the various initiatives of the government institutes in order to be able to continue to live in the normal mainstream society. There are several dilemmas which the war veterans have to face when they return to the normal civilian societies, and require assistance to make a positive transition. This paper will highlight the issues faced by the war veterans in the mainstream society, and the factors which lead to these individuals to live as homeless persons.

Personal Reflection

I am currently serving in the military services, and am heavily involved in the issues related to this sector. In this regard the dilemma regarding the inability of the war veterans to continue their normal lifestyles, after serving military trends is a significant concern. I have always been perplexed by this controversial issue. The individuals who choose to join the military, have a serious devotion to the value of the nation and the culture (Goldstein et Al, 2012). The army values become a crucial component of the personality of the individual; hence it is also transmitted in their normal lives as they return to the civilian society. As a relevant stakeholder I had misconceived notions regarding the true nature of the homeless veterans present in the current society.

Initially I believed that these individuals somehow deviated from the army lifestyle, and as a result were not able to become significant members of the society. I am very confident regarding the discipline and the quality of life which is a part of the army culture, and as a person involved in the military; it is very difficult to understand the phenomenon of the homeless veterans. Even though I have always been very interested regarding the nature of the homeless veterans and the factors which cause them to live in such a adverse condition; I never really perceived myself as interlinked with these homeless individuals. My experiences analysis these individuals was generally based in a non personal manner, as I believed these individuals to be the outliers in the honorable war veteran population. However upon a critical analysis of this complex issue I have been able to change my initial orientation drastically. The current war veterans living in the adverse homeless conditions are not completely different from the common soldiers, and this is a serious threat for any individual serving a military term.

In my various experiences in the military I have been able to communicate with several significant individual, who are aware of the various factor influencing the life is a soldier.
