Introduction

The question that I propose to examine what, if any, role communities must play in combating the problem of homelessness. To this end, the homeless are defined as those typically poor, and sometimes mentally ill people who can not maintain a place to live, and therefore often sleep on the streets, parks, etc. (Webster New World College Dictionary, 2001). Determination of the mentally ill was irrational, unstable or crazy. “According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NiMH), some examples of mental illness, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). For the purposes of this research community is defined as the society as a whole (Merriam-Webster College Dictionary, 1993).

It can be seen that homelessness in the country, has reached an unprecedented high. The causes of homelessness are subject to the views and perceptions of community, who is homeless, was inaccurate.
