Since the beginning of the world racism has existed and minorities have been suppressed. Affirmative Action was an automatic reaction to save the minorities.

Affirmative action (usually identified as positive discrimination in the America and as employment equity in other places specially Canada and Britain) represents regulations that undertake aspects such as: national origin, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs into consideration in an effort to benefit an under-represented community in facets of business, employment, and education.

The discrimination and racism was most horrible in America that's why origin of Affirmative action was America. In some states Native Americans were deprived of the rights of voting. Blacks were not allowed to get into the military training camps of whites and separate military units were formed. Furthermore the White denied African Americans from prominent military positions. Furthermore the athletes belonging to African American community faced difficulty during the era of Jim Crow owing to the fact that they were not supported for participating in prominent sports activities and were denied of the training in proper and well facilitated sports complex (Levy, 2003). The Black Natives were also denied of proper job opportunities as the white dominant government preferred white individuals for their prestigious level jobs despite of their qualifications.
