History of 1865 to the present

In this article I will give an overview of American history from 1865 to today with a focus on politics, society and culture. I will emphasize not only the dates and events, but the issues and themes that run throughout the American past. America was divided by three major wars: in 1770, the American Revolution in the 1970s and the war in Vietnam in the midst of this period, the civil war. Every war has changed dramatically from the generation that participated in the battles and the generations that followed. 01 conference will examine the impact of the civil war, its effects on the American people, and agreements and disagreements within the nation on the meaning of the "reconstruction".(Athearn, p. 05-13)

At the end of 1860, some in the south and called for greater diversification of the economy - cotton is no longer "king". Increasingly, there is a movement from farm to factory, and has encouraged many people industrialization in the South and the capital investment in the South's economy from external sources. This conference explores the political, economic and racial composition of the "New" from the South after the Civil War. The American West is increasingly playing an important role in the history of the United States between 1865 and 1890. During this period, the Anglo-Americans settled 430 million acres of submerged land and the Native Americans of the so-called Indian Wars. The term "The Golden Age" comes from a novel of the same name published in 1873 by Mark Twain and Charles Dudley Warner, which, although fiction, is a critical examination of politics and corruption in the United States during the nineteenth century. This conference looks at how rampant corruption and economic policy of the American Society of color and culture during the Golden Age. (Athearn, p. 05-13)

The debate as to whether the practices of the Golden Age have been corrupted or even beneficial is raging today. Even today, mergers, mass layoffs, deregulation, Enron, and we recall that the line between corruption and progress is indeed a fine.

Although slavery has been illegal for three decades to the 1890s, southern blacks often feel that a new type of de facto slavery, took place. Lynchings, Jim Crow laws, economic hardship and southern blacks act as though they feel very little improved since emancipation. From the 1890s and the 1970s, a "great migration" of blacks from south to west and north of the changing demographic structure of the nation. Blacks went to the "promised land" of the North in search of jobs and greater racial tolerance. However, these basic requirements increasing the debate on the role of blacks in predominantly white America to nineteenth and twentieth centuries. (Dallek, P. 07-10)
