The history of Afro-Americans is a respected and a constitutional field of American history. In order to show black participation in the nation's growth and development, to prove the inevitability of black equality, or to demonstrate the inexorable progress made by Afro-Americans. It conducted as a distinct area of inquiry, within the discipline of history, with black people as its primary focus to reveal their thought and activities over time and place. As we approach the twenty-first century, the time has come to assess and evaluate the historical outpouring of the last few decades (Berlin, 2009).
African Americans got largely discriminated on the basis of colour. White Americans do not give them chance to come forward in any field of life. This practiced since the centuries. They entered America and settled themselves. They consider themselves as Americans, but the people who were already part of America, did not accept those African Americans (Blank, 2004). This made the life of African Americans miserable and difficult. The benefits which were enjoyed, by the white Americans, were far better than those of African Americans. It is important to note that it got practiced since 17th and 18th century, as a lot of scholars has revealed the facts in their researches (Ayers, 2010).
Frederick Douglass (the revolutionist)
Frederick Douglass was born with the condition of slavery and suffered corporal punishment and humiliation for a very long time.
