Hip Hop

Birth of hip-hop: the early 70's.

The basic definition of hip-hop is that urban cultural movement. It covers the various forms of artistic expression, which are all different, but complementary. Hip-hop emerged in the Bronx in the early 70's, immediately after the hippy movement and the war in Vietnam, disillusioned with America (Waters 2009). The word hip-hop onomatopoeia jump, the image of social development, creative progression. Hip-hop is not just music in the strict technical sense, but mainly to express themselves. It involves thinking, dress, talk, walk, it's "the whole picture."

It all started in North America in the 50's and 60's, high social barriers between the white middle class Americans to the life of the "American Dream" and the indigenous peoples of the cast who were excluded from the promises of a better life(Price 2006). It was during this period that the voices such as Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and the Black Panthers. Increase in demand, and equal rights for all Americans, colored or not. The Great Hip-Hop

Afrika Bambataa creates Universal Zulu Nation in 1974, a new breed of ideas, such peace, love, unity and respect for others.

During the same period is a clear decline in gang activity because of the very high mortality in their ranks, but also mainly due to the positive influence of hip-hop.Controversy
