HIGH RISK Children Without a Conscience by Dr. Ken Magid and Carole A. McKelvey
The authors have composed and developed a magnificent book. The book revolves around the fact that how psychopaths are made and it issues a warning signal that is all about the making of a psychopath and warns that in the future our society shall have much larger number of such people preying on the rest of the population. However, to confirm this, any teacher can be asked who has been teaching at a school if the number of children has increased with serious behavioral problems. To confront such people, who are unreachable through appeals to reasoning, traditional or kindness psychotherapy will ultimately become a losing battle (Biase, 1995).
Anti-social personality types
The authors of this book made claims that insufficient and poor bonding of the new born is the key. Children who possess the following characteristics may tend to behave in a disturbed manner (Biase, 1995);
inability to give and receive affection
self-destructive behaviors
cruelty to others and animals
phoniness
abnormalities in eye contact
problems with stealing and hoarding
extreme control issues with authority
preoccupation with blood, fire and gore
lack of long-term friends
various types of learning disorders
crazy lying
In addition to this, McKelvey and Magid strongly believe that day care is not just a dilemma in the search for the suitable care; rather it has become a part of the big problem because young infants tend to have a strong negative impact upon the separation from the mother when they are left in day care. Not only the young infants, but also grown children have the similar thought that they are not getting adequate attention. The researchers have also investigated and came to a conclusion that as more mothers enter the work force, more children tend to be left in day care institutions. Despite the fact, there is no existence of any national ...
