Healthcare Reform Policy Analysis

Executive Summary

It is a fact that health has been the priority of all U.S. leaders in their election campaign. There is no doubt about it that healthcare plans of these leaders gained significant attention from health professionals and researchers. However, these leaders also faced some objections in relation to their health care plans from various health circles. Barack Obama's Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act 2009 intends to provide quality health care to all American citizens. Obama favors his health care reforms and claims that his healthcare plan is affordable to every American citizen and implementation of this plan will not just reduce personal bankruptcy but also improve the insurance system of the country, which can be seen as great assistance to American people in their health care need.

It can also be seen that appearance of every reform policy also comes with some criticism. Researchers argue that Obama's health care plan seeks to reverse negative trends at the expense of public finances. In fact, Obama has faced strong opposition not only by the extreme right but also from some of the Democrats who are not satisfied with some of the contents of policy.

As far as future of this plan is concerned, some researchers strongly support Obama's health care reform policy and claim that without reform the current health care premiums and expenditure will continue to skyrocket. They further warn that if nothing is done in this regard, it will deprive 14,000 Americans from their health insurance. In fact, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act 2009 will not only increase insurance coverage but also reduce personal bankruptcy and improve the insurance system of the country, which can be seen as great assistance to American people in their health care need.

Introduction

United States of America is a democratic country where every citizen deserves equal access to quality health care services (Knowles et al., 2010). Health care reforms, in this regard, are important in regulating the healthcare system in the country that ensures the provision of quality health to all Americans. It is a fact that fifty millions of Americans are uninsured and thousands are passing life with low quality health care (McDonough, 2011). In fact, it is the demand of American people to end the debate over Obama's health care reform policy and reach a solution that is beneficial to a common American (Underation, 2012). In other words, there is immense need to insure all Americans with better quality of health care. In addition to the issue of uninsured population, U.S. almost spends above $2 trillion every year, which approximately becomes 16% of the country's GDP.
