Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant information relating to Healthcare Quality Assurance Article Reviews. In this paper, the author will conduct a critical analysis of two articles. The first one is related to the analysis of healthcare cost in United States and the other is related to benefits and costs of health information technology (Health IT) system.

Article Review # 1

The first article that we are reviewing is related to the examination of healthcare cost in United States. In this article, statistics and records of expenses are effectively presented to clarify the status of healthcare cost in United States. Extensive research is also conducted to lower the cost of healthcare in United States. For this purpose, the creator of this article has effectively identified some relevant factors related to healthcare cost in United States. It is observed in the article that the increase in health care costs is observed throughout the country for the past few years. This consistent growth is of a prime concern for a number of enteritis including government, consumers and employers to keep pace with this trend. This paper aims to identify the contributions of political, economic, social and technological factors in the increasing costs of health care, in the United States (Altman, 2011).

It was further elaborated in the article that inflation is the main contributor towards the increase occurring in the health care costs throughout the United States. Health care expenditures because of the economic factors are increasing at a rapid pace, which are expected to grow further because of increasing conditions of inflation. Public spending on health care services is very low as compared to the private expenditures made by people themselves. Although, the federal governments have announced some medical coverage for the citizens of United States; however, much of the coverage is provided by private insurers who charge high premiums from people for the health care services. In addition to this, government also charges taxes from the citizens for the health care systems. Regardless of the comforts and ease in providing treatment, advanced technology is also a reason of the increasing health care costs in the United States. The factors show that the increase in health care costs is not because of managed care failure, as assumed generally. But it is because of unnecessary expenditures on health care. America has to decide whether she want to maintain the quality or will allow only flow of money hence increasing the concern of American families about their budget and expenses (Davis, 2007).

It was also mentioned in the article that the expenditures on technology are constantly increasing. The sudden increase in the costs of health care, in association with the overall economic downturn and increase in federal deficits, has led to stress on systems that are financing the health care.
