Healthcare Model

Introduction

Health-care system is classified into two primary frameworks, and it is based on 3 care levels which includes primary, secondary and tertiary. The British National Health Service uses The Regionalized Model and US uses the Dispersed Model.

Structure of Regionalized Model

Regionalized model of healthcare is organized model in which the patient enters health care system at primary care level through their general practitioner. The duty of the general practitioners is within defined geographic areas; this puts more focus on the health of community and on the health care of the team. General practitioners are used by each system of NHS to give primary health care and to build referrals to additional services as needed. More expert services are then given by the hospitals, plus care for patients who have psychiatric illnesses, and even direct entrance to the departments of accidents and emergency. Those pharmacies which are not in the hospitals have special contract with the relevant hospitals to deliver the prescribed medicines, and they are even privately owned.

This health care system benefits in a way that it emphasizes on the primary health care level interventions. This initial level care is better for individuals, and it is a method to motivate better standard inside healthcare system. This matches with all the 3 care levels in a separate but prearranged manner which absolutely enhances the care quality.
