Strategic Plan

For this paper, we would be undertaking and adopting the SWOT analysis, which regards assessing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that a healthcare organization experiences and that how do companies and organizations continue to make way for incurring precautionary measures and strategies that have been undertaken otherwise.

The organization chosen for this paper is Mayo Clinic. The organization has been serving many people and has been acknowledged for dealing with tertiary care and cases that come over from United States and across the globe. With a 123 year-old heritage, the Mayo Clinic has evolved in gaining international reputation and made way for consistent, satisfactory progress today.

S.W.O.T. Analysis

Strengths

Considering the organization has a century-old heritage, Mayo Clinic has been through vast transformations that seemed impossible at the time. All these changes and the phases that have been implemented all hail down to the people that have worked with the company (Barnard & Sandelowski, 2001).

From the people serving the role of leadership and laying out their goals and aspirations to the front-line managers, the employees and the support staff - who have contributed and yielded their effort and skills that have made Mayo Clinic what it is today. Having highly equipped individuals, packed with relevant knowledge and expertise not only makes way for progress, but also helps make way for bringing the clinic's goals to their realization.

Weaknesses

There are certain weaknesses that have been identified. Being a non-profit organization, Mayo Clinic has been experiencing problems and issues in context with financial aid and monetary assistance. Compensation and benefits has a hard time disbursing perks and privileges that individuals made way for progress, which not only becomes difficult on their part.

With the meltdown that has struck the international community and the smash of 2007-2008, investors and stakeholders have become much more aware, rather cautious, of their investments, how their money is being used and that what outcomes are they receiving in terms of societal or financial gains, as per their aspirations and their motives (Bruce, 2010).

Opportunities

With technology rapidly changing at the speed of light, technological advancements and introduction of electronic health and medical records is one opportunity that has come forth in front of Mayo Clinic.
