Discuss Potential Government Failures in Providing Primary Healthcare through Public Healthcare Facilities in Urban Areas
Introduction
In most of the developed countries all over the world are providing free healthcare services to all the citizens through public healthcare facilities such as, hospitals, healthcare clinics etc. These healthcare institutions are funded by the government reserves that are generated from the taxes and healthcare insurance policies of the citizens. The healthcare services are declared as the most costly services offered to public and all the costs are managed by government agencies. The government is facing huge pressure from the public end, as the healthcare rights of general public are not fulfilled accordingly. Due to the evolution of private healthcare services providing organizations, the public healthcare institutions that are managed by the governmental agencies are facing great level of challenges and controversies. The healthcare expenditures have increased to a level that cannot be managed with the current reserves of the government. The healthcare services have transformed due to the development in information technology.
Discussion
The private healthcare organizations are offering better healthcare services as compared to the services offered by public healthcare facilities in various developed countries. An extensive dissatisfaction is found among the people belonging to urban areas, as they are contribution in governmental reserves is higher but still they are unable to get quality healthcare services (Straus; Tetroe & Graham, 2011, p.6). The government has been found unable to allocate effective amount of funds to public healthcare facilities in the urban areas that increased the concerns of public. Primary healthcare is a basic right of every single individual living in the society and the government should ensure that everyone gets it at ease.
