Abstract

The health policy of any country plays an important role in the nation building. This is so because it affects almost every single person in the residing in that country. The design of policy should be so that everyone gains maximum benefit from it. It should be designed such that no one neither the nurses and doctors nor the public rights are crushed. The health policy analysts plays a great role in the making a most favorable health policy design. Health Policy

Health care of the citizens is one of the prime concerns of any country. It is the duty of the country leaders that policies or legislations are designed so that the health care of the country members could be managed efficiently. Health care policies are designed to improve the health care systems of the country. Health policy provides guiding principles for the nurses and doctors to practice in their profession. Health policies should be designed to meet the interests and needs of the public and provide a practical approach for practitioners to solve health problems. Evidence based policy making is of great significance because it helps in designing policy in a more realistic manner.

Health policy analysis helps in increasing the impact of the policy on the current system under practice. It evaluates the policy critically and helps in implementing it successfully to obtain potential benefits from it. It also helps in making required enhancements in the policy that could improve it further before it is completely brought into action. This health policy analysis is one approach that assists in making health policy optimal.

Problem Statement

Health policy is shaped by observing the political feasibility, and not by a logical vision or plan. The issues identified in health policy are the resource allocation for the health care systems. Access to quality health care is not available because of the increased workload on professional nurses. The changes in the insurance systems of the citizens of the United States brought by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act are causing concern for the public and the professional care takers such as nurses and doctors. The increased rate of death is due to lower nurse-patient ratios. The lack of good working environment for the nurses is also a prevalent issue (Aiken et.al, 2011). Load of work for nurses causes them to make errors and restrain them to provide safe and quality assured health services to their patients.
