Identification of Health Problems

One of the most common healthcare issues in the United State is obesity with over 35% of the population being obese with most being within the age group of 25-44. It increases the risk of other health conditions such as diabetes, adverse lipid concentrations, and hypertension. The United States has witnessed a growth in the number of obese people. However, recent research has discovered that the rate of growth in number of obese people is on the decline and is expected to level off in a few years (Carroll, Kit, & Flegal,2012).

Glaucoma is another common health issue in the United States affecting the middle age population. Currently, there are 2.7 million people in the US aver the age of 40 that are suffering from glaucoma. The risks of glaucoma increase as a person nears the age of 60. With a major portion of the population of the United States nearing the age of 60, immediate action needs be taken in order to ensure that this health problem is properly taken care of. This disease is very serious because there are no symptoms and a person only realizes it when he begins to lose his eyesight. It is common for a person to lose about 40% of his eyesight without even noticing it (Vajaranant, 2012, 2464-2466).
