Introduction

The paper discusses five definitions of Healthcare Terms, which are Medicare, Medicaid, Certification (physician), public health and Ambulatory care. Healthcare is a branch of government whose purpose is to organize and ensure affordable medical services, maintaining and improving its standard of health. It is a set of aimed at preserving and strengthening the physical and mental health of every man, keeping his long and active life, giving him medical assistance in case of deterioration of health. To implement these measures are special social institutions (Austin, 2008).

Medicare

Medicare is the name given to the system of health insurance managed by the Government of the United States for the benefit of people over 65 and meets certain criteria. Medicare is coverage of social security administered by the government of the United States, which provides health care to people over 65 years. The program also funds training programs for resident physicians in the United States. Medicare operates as private insurance. The Social Security Act 1965 was passed by Congress in the late spring of 1965 and signed into law on July 30, 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson, as an amendment to create a new law of social security (Hamowy, 2007).

Medicaid

The Medicaid is a health insurance program for low-income individuals and families cannot afford health care costs. Medicaid serves low-income parents, children, seniors, and persons with disabilities. There are different types of coverage for people with differing needs. People with low income and few resources in the following categories may be eligible:

Families and children

Elderly people

Persons with disabilities who work and who are not employed

Pregnant Women

Persons under long-term medical care

The income and resource limits for each of these groups may vary (Allen, 2001).
