Abstract

The main purpose of writing this paper is to highlight the role of government in the health care department. Within few years, the U.S. economy suffered revolts and one of the factor of that revolt was the health care insurance because the private companies failed to provide sufficient health insurance to the employees. Therefore, public turned their face towards the government and government started bearing the heavy expenses over the health care insurance. Therefore, in this paper, the author covered the different aspects of health insurance.

Introduction

Health care in United States basically managed by different legal entities, which are supported by the government funds. However, the health care department/facilities mainly owned by different private and public sector entities. The health insurance primarily owned and given by the government in the public sector and the ration of that insurance in almost 60-65%, whereas most of the spending of this health care insurance came from government programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Children's Health insurance program and the TRICARE. The statistics issued by WHO stated that the U.S. spent almost more the $7,146 as a health care per capita and the health care sector constitute around 15.2% of the GDP in 2009.

The purpose of writing this paper is basically to present arguments and justification regarding the statement whether government should provide for and pay for the health care for all the citizen. The topic under discussion is relatively a hot topic in the American society because health care always considered as a critical issue because of the expenses incurred in the health care sector. Therefore, in this paper, the author covered all the issues that currently related to the financing of the health care of all the citizens (Merino, 2011).

Discussion

In United States, government healthcare referred to the government funding that covers the health care services offered to the citizens and all the expenses of the health care like payment to the doctors and hospitals done by the government. In U.S., medical professionals, doctors, hospitals, and government healthcare are not employed by the government, whereas the provided medical and health services are basically reimbursed by the government just like the insurance companies. The best example of the government healthcare in this regard is the Medicare. Medicare considered being the most successful healthcare initiative by the U.S. government, which established in 1965 and the main purpose of this organization is to provide healthcare insurance for the people who aged 65 or more than that or in another way, they facing any kind of disability (Quadagno, 2005).
