Introduction

Sue Chorley is a 43 year old working woman. Sue has converted her job into a 50/50 charity in order to take part time degree in OT. Sue is living with her husband Barry. Sue and Barry met in gym and they have been together from the past 9 years. Sue has been paying less attention to her fitness and physical wellbeing mainly because of two factors; Birth of James, Sue and Barry's Son and her studies. Due to these factors the focus has been diverted towards these things and Sue didn't have enough time to concentrate on her health. Sue's health issues will be discussed in relation to Dahlgren and Whitehead model of Social health. Along with that recommendations will also be given to Sue in order to improve her existing lifestyle balance physical fitness and well being along with occupation and raising a child

Discussion

Dahlgren and Whitehead model focuses on the external factors of the environment which affects the social wellbeing of an individual. Individuals are surrounded by a factors which influence their physical well being and results in diseases and physical problems. Those factors can be modified to improve the health of the individuals. These factors are constantly evolving as human life is progressing thus they can deteriorate or improve the health of the individual. In short these factors are responsible for the health issues in people. There are 3 layers in the model; the first layer consists of lifestyle factors which are mainly caused by the individual themselves. These are the factors which are solely dependent on the choices which an individual makes. The second layer comprises of social factors by the people around an individual which have a significant impact on the individual. The third layer combines all the structural factors housing and working factors which crate an impact on the life of the individual (Dahlgren & Whitehead 2006).

Sue has been completely occupied with the work and she feels really slow in front of PC after such a long time. Mainly due to long after time she has been in touch with the studies which she had to complete in order to pursue her OT. She is continuously eating chocolates and her sleeping hours are not appropriate. Excessive chocolate eating is hazardous to the health of human because of the active contents of Cocoa in the chocolate. This is dangerous for the health of sue because sleeping is necessary for the human well being and being awake all the time makes you tired and lazy in your daily routine which results in attitude changes. She is studying with her people younger than her age and mainly they are active, they spend nights out partying and Sue is unable to do so because she believes that she is a misfit in the group because of her age and more weight she had gained over the period of time.
