Theory/models of behavior change

When it comes to behavioral models there is a crucial need to curb the growing levels of obesity when it comes to not only adults but also children as well. The problem needs to be catered to from the grass root level to ensure the fact that obesity does not become a chronic as one turns into an adult. Behavioral change can occur when there are changes that are to be made in the variables that are said to be associated with the increase of obesity in adults as well as children that also tend to have mediation in the interventions. The variables that are associated with the concept of obesity is said to be identified from various theories and models that exist and it is these theories and models that aids in the understanding of the behavior that leads to obesity (www.nature.com).

Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior Model

When it comes to the school of knowledge it is said to be a prerequisite that is logical b y nature when it comes to the intentional health related behavior and its performance. The degree of knowledge that is required and the way knowledge is said to be linked to behavior has not by any means been elucidated. There are different types or forms of knowledge and it could have a certain level of influence. IT is different forms of knowledge that tend to have a differentiating impact on the decisions that are said to be taken when it comes to physical activity and eating events (Baranowski, 1997, 163-188).

It is the Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior model that has been developed in order to explain the role that knowledge is said to be playing. This theory is said to endorse the fact that it is behavior which is said to be dynamic by nature and when it tends to have an accumulation in the domain of health behavior it is then when there is also a change in the attitude which in turn leads to behavioral change. Whenever there is a change in attitude it is said to be tagged with the force of motivation. This school of thought is also said to be elaborated in the literature of public health. It is attitude that is said to be a simple set of minuses and pluses (valenced) as well as the beliefs in relation to the mechanism of behavior or something that is highly complexed. It is this model has an assumption that an individual can be rational at times and it is this aspect which is said to be the theory Enlightened Self-Interest. However there are also times when an individual contradicts this school of thought and also tends to exhibit bahvior that cannot be termed a rational by any means. It is this aspect which communicates those attitudes does not necessarily have to be influenced by specific variables. It is something that can be based on the decision that one is making or the kind of physical and eating activity one ...
