The Head start Act version 2007 defined its goal as the promotion of school readiness and preparation of low-income children by improving their social, cognitive, health and emotional development through the provision to them and their families of health, educational, nutritional, and other such provisions as per the requirements of the families (http://eclkc.ohs.acf.hhs.gov).
