Abstract

The subject issue of the importance and employment of Wireless LAN Technology has been chosen due to its vast application in organizational, business and educational fields. In the past decade, we have seen the employment of this revolutionary technology at airports, offices, universities and companies. This technology allows a large number of computers to be connected internally and externally. The “wireless phenomena” has revolutionized the way communication is carried out. Significant decrease in costs and fewer implications due to hardware errors are only two of the major contributions in addition to the increased level of mobility that has been attained. This paper is aimed at a research on this wonderful advancement of technology that has affected people and businesses worldwide.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Outline

The importance and employment of the Wireless LAN technology will be focused upon and will feature an in-depth analysis of the advantages, disadvantages, characteristics and implications. In this regard, several sources of available data will be scrutinized and presented in accordance with the direction of the requirements of this research. Wireless LAN has provided us with the core advantage of mobility and convenience. Simplicity of function and reduced costs are the other advantages that will be addressed. In addition, the complications pertaining to functionality of the alternatives which include wires, cables and other networking mediums must also be highlighted in order to obtain a sound understanding on how much we have benefited from the wireless technology.

Thesis Statement

Highlighting the advantages, importance and characteristics of the Wireless LAN technology in the organizational and structural perspective in contrast with the previous networking technologies which include cable networking and telephone integrated services.

Background

Before the employment of wireless LAN technology, processes were slow and data transferring was a bit of a problem which caused serious hindrances in the everyday operations of companies. In addition, the time constraints and swift requirements made the tasks stressful.
