Whether a person is trying to learn how to handle a horse or even watch the horse by leaning beside a fence, there are a few precautions to be learned in order to avoid accidents. Horses have the potential to hurt a person if it is scared or startled. The following paper consists of a few recommendations about how to handle a horse, avoid kicks, clean the foot and avoid drags. For the beginner, it may be an overwhelming task, but later it becomes a habit as horses have the ability to react quickly to a predator to maintain their survival.

On the ground

A few horses are easy to handle and may give space to have any approach to handle them. But, there are a few who are tricky to handle. Before climbing on it, it is suggested that one must understand and have knowledge about how to handle the horse (Loch, n.d). While the owner is on the ground with the horse, he has to make sure that both the rider and the horse must move steadily as sudden moves can make a horse jump or kick sideways. The best way to ride a horse is to move around with a halter and a rope. While cleaning the tail, it is suggested that one has to gently pull and clean the tail. While feeding the horse, it is advised to use buckets and tubs as horses are very greedy and they may mistakenly bit the fingers considering them to be carrots (Loch, n.d). Wearing of boots is suggested as the horse moves a lot and may cause an injury by stepping on the foot of the owner.
