Introduction

The hand is the main mode of transmission of microorganisms. Large proportion of infections is original hand borne according to some authors. These infections can be reduced by the application of hygiene such as washing and or hand disinfection. Hand hygiene requires knowledge of these methods and their applications, awareness and training teams, the provision of products and equipment responsive. The paper aims to cover the aspects related to teaching, comparing and contrasting the hand hygiene practices in the young nursing students.

Question 1: Assessment

It is important that the assessment of Stella is made in a manner in which it is easy to evaluate as to whether her practices are reliable and valid. Such assessment will help in ensuring that the medical practice is being carried out in a manner that will help the patients and how they the element of hygiene should be considered in such scenarios.

1.1 Validity

Making observations of the statements given in the case, it can be assumed that this statement is valid as this is possible for Stella to be carefully practicing hand hygiene and showing a positive learning approach towards her willingness and care for the patient's health and medical norms.

This statement is not valid in my point of view as practice of hand hygiene by hand rubbing has become a procedure recommended by the WHO to equal opportunity to use a method of hand hygiene: the procedure is faster, more efficient but less tolerated that washing with water and antiseptic soap because alcohol can be irritating to the skin.

The statement 'c 'also lacks the validity in its context as the mentor is officially responsible for making assessments of the student while practicing hand hygiene.

1.2 Reliability

The first statement is not reliable as it does not follow the national guidelines. This means that the statement is general and does not have specific reference to any of the guidelines that should be followed by Stella.

The second statement is also based on the general perception of Michelle. It does not describe the guidelines that Stella should follow. This is the main reason that this statement is unreliable.

The third statement cannot be deemed as reliable because another colleague has expressed her views on the practice of Stella. This colleague was not given the task of assessing Stella which means that it is not necessary that she has assessed Stella properly. This also means that it is not necessary that the views are correct and accurate about Stella.

In order to make sure that the reliability and validity are the main essence of the statements, it should be made sure that the national guidelines should be followed so that the workers know what practice they should follow. They should be made aware of the national guidelines so that reliability and validity are ensured.
