Introduction

According to Kates (1988) gun control is the most discussed criminal topic in the history of criminology. Many people have written, researched and conducted surveys on the gun control system in America. Many people believe that the writers and the researchers only discuss the negative aspect of gun control which includes gun accidents, violence, increasing extremism and increasing killing of the people. The researchers only mentioned people who were using the gun control for the negative reasons which represented the 50% of the society and does not mentioned the peaceful household users of gun control. The debate over designing the rules and regulations of gun control is carrying on for many years and still there are no defined rules regarding the control over the guns, ownership and circulation in a society. The report will take into consideration several researches in order to find out the gun control phenomena in the United states of America and will also take into consideration the pros and cons of gun control. The report will also draw conclusions about designing the laws against the gun control system.

Discussion

According to Kahan (2003) the gun control varies among the different social groups living in a society. Each member belonging to a different social class have attached different social meanings to the gun control. Many people living in a society believes that the more the guns in a society the more the rate of crimes in it. Whereas for the people living in a rural area, a protestant, white male it has the social meaning of gun control that is power and honour of an individual.
