Greenhouse Effect

What is the greenhouse………………?

The greenhouse effect is mainly used for growing plants. The major functionality of the green house is to trap the heat from the sun. The sunlight comes in from the glass panels of the greenhouse, but the heat cannot go out (Sriwastava, 2012). This trapping of heat is known as green house effect. As a result of this heat trap, the green house becomes warm just like the car which is parked in the area filled with sunlight. Thus the effect succeeds in making the plants warm enough in the winter season.

Greenhouse gases are present in the environment all around us. The atmospheric green house gases act just like the green house glass panels. In order to enter the earth's atmosphere, the sunlight has to pass through the green house gases present all around.

The working of green house is described as follows:

Sunlight passes through the earth as a form of energy.

The earth's surface and land get warmed as some portion of the sunlight is converted in to the heat.

The unused portion of the sun's energy is retransmitted, as it becomes infrared radiation.

The infrared radiation is transmitted back from the green house gases, resulting in warming the earth even more.

What are the main……………………?

The main green house gases include Carbon di oxide, Methane, Nitrous Oxide, Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and Ozone. The most predominant anthropogenic greenhouse gas is Carbon dioxide, as nearly 60% of this effect in green house is contributed by this gas. The dumping rate of Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is much higher in comparison to the rat with which it is absorbed by the biosphere creatures. Also, this gas has increased in its consumption due to the increasing industrialization. The primary accepted reason for increased consumption is the burning of fossil fuels.
