Abstract

The growth of the labor movement and unions was not as easy as it is considered. The movement had to struggle for over a century also a half century to take its position in the industries. The growth of the labor movement and unions are considered as the reaction of the violation of rights of workers, women as well as children. This research aims to explore the early years of the labor movement and unisons. This paper also explores the process of growth of the labor movement and unions that how this movement was initiated and raised with the passage of time.

Many programs and laws are designed to improve the lives of labor in United States came during many decades starting in 1930s, at what time the US labor movement consolidated and gained the political influence. The labor movement did not approach easily; this movement had to fight for over a century also a half century to take its position in the United States economy. In the labor movement the labor union has played a vital role, that's why these unions are recognized legally as representatives of workforce in numerous industries in America (Western & Rosenfeld, 2011). Their action today focuses on cooperative negotiation over benefits, wages, and conditions of working for their association, and their member's representation in clash or argument with the organization over the violations of their contract provisions. Bigger unions also usually appointed in electioneering and lobbying activities at the federal as well as the state level (Lewis, 2013).

Unlike labor unions in various other countries, United States unions required to function within the free accessible enterprise system -- a policy which made it desolation of socialists. As feudalism has no existence in America, and not lots of working people thought they were concerned in a resist of class. Instead, the majority of workers simply perceived themselves as declaring the equal rights to improvement as others (Lichtenstein, 2012).
