Grading Policies in School

Introduction

Several districts have created standards-based report cards that measure students' performance on academic goals. The idea has taken off at the elementary level but generally has not reached middle and high schools. An exception is Perry High School in Lake County in northeastern Ohio, where high-school students receive a report card based solely on their knowledge of the material. Other skills, such as behavior, attitude and effort, are reported separately (Bloom, pp 20 - 29).
